Fleece Artist Curly Locks 125g Skeins

Foliage

We’re moving along with the incoming 125g skeins – our latest arrival is Curlylocks.  Curlylocks is a supremely sensual, loopy Aran weight bouclé – it is soft and warm to the touch, with a beckoning texture; its mohair captures Fleece Artist’s color magic with a radiance that practically glistens. Add wool for warmth and nylon for strength, and Curlylocks becomes a first choice for enfolding knitting, whether you use it alone or strand it with a smooth yarn for extra texture and effect. See the new 125g skeins (enough for a lovely triangular shawl!) here.

Fleece Artist Dev

Snow Crocus

Kathryn Thomas (Fleece Artist’s founder) sent us an alluring sample of Dev, 100% Merino wool spun into an Aran weight cloud of softness,  with a note saying she had picked up a very small quantity of it that one of her mills had lying about – were we interested? It took about three seconds of feeling the springy softness of Dev, imagining all the while vests, sweaters, felted bags and hats, for us to say, “You bet! Send us the whole lot!”

So she did – and here it is for you. Enjoy it while it lasts, here!

And, just for the whimsy of it, we have created a Dev version of Witt Pratt’s delightful Newport Bag – a Moebius journey that is so inventive and inspiring you’ll love every knitting minute of it, here.

Hand Maiden Sea Three

Morgana

The delights of Sea Silk x 3 = unbounded happy knitting and wearing!  Sea Three is a “heavy DK” or “light Aran” silk and seacell wonder. It creates a fabric with a bit of oomph to it and opens whole new possibilities for Hand Maiden’s beloved Sea Silk line. Both springy and alluringly soft, Sea Three brings an elegant happiness with it however you wear it.  See the new additions here.

With the arrival of Sea Three comes a new kit!

We think that Hand Maiden’s Sea Three Vest is delightful. There’s an elegant playfulness about it that means it will go anywhere you want to go and look dressed up or down as you choose. Knit side to side, Sea Three’s natural spring takes care of shaping and fit in ways you’ll find almost magical. If you’ve never tried Sea Three before, this is an ideal starting place – you’ll finish quickly with a garment that will repay you hundreds of times over in enduring wearability.  Find your very own Sea Three Vest here.

We are happy to introduce Fleece Artist’s new put-up for Blue Face Leicester Aran – a 125g skein that is just right for a hat, or gloves, or a scarf or other small project.  It also enables you to be more precise when it comes to purchasing the right amount of yardage for larger projects – all in all, a very good thing.  See the newly created and newly arrived skeins here.

Olive

Olive - New 125g Skeins!

We’ve been pretty busy since we last posted here – lots of new, good things coming along.  One of them is that we have made the switch-over to Fleece Artist’s new 125g skeins of Scotia Silk.  This means that for those smaller projects you will need to buy less yarn – and for larger projects, you will often be able to finish up with, say 3 125g skeins instead of 2 250g skeins.  Overall, a very good thing for everyone.  You can see the new 125g skeins here.

All of our Scotia Silk kits are now being filled with the 125g skeins, too:

If I were forced to choose a single yarn to take to that fabled desert island where it would be all I could knit for the rest of my days (under the single palm tree that is always on such islands), it would be BFL Aran (my desert isle has a temperate climate).  This is one of those yarns that I would frankly like to have a room full of, so that I could open the door and jump into it like I used to do with raked leaves as a child.  It is soft, strong, wonderful to have running through your fingers, even better to wear out into the cold that it will keep at arms length from you, because it is also very, very warm. Just in time for knitting happily by the fire. See the new arrivals and their friends here.

If you’ve never had the pleasure of its company before, here are some single skein kits to introduce you to the magic of BFL:

Much more Aran Alpaca is now in stock, thanks to a luscious shipment that arrive a few days ago.  We think the Fleece Artists have worked some consummate magic in creating this gathering of color. You can see what I mean here.

And, of course, the choices for these two favorite kits just got even better:

A bit more Mo just arrived!  Whether you are using it alone for a cloud of ultimate softness, or stranding it with another yarn for a cozy sweater or cold weather blanket, Fleece Artist Mo is as good as mohair gets.  This is truly among the highest quality mohair yarns available anywhere.  Enjoy it here.
