Fleece Artist Curly Locks 125g Skeins

Foliage

We’re moving along with the incoming 125g skeins – our latest arrival is Curlylocks.  Curlylocks is a supremely sensual, loopy Aran weight bouclé – it is soft and warm to the touch, with a beckoning texture; its mohair captures Fleece Artist’s color magic with a radiance that practically glistens. Add wool for warmth and nylon for strength, and Curlylocks becomes a first choice for enfolding knitting, whether you use it alone or strand it with a smooth yarn for extra texture and effect. See the new 125g skeins (enough for a lovely triangular shawl!) here.

Fleece Artist Baby Alpaca

Seafoam

We have received about a dozen colors of Baby Alpaca in 125g skeins which allows us to fill in many of the colorways that have gone missing since we switch over to the new put-up.  Whether you use it alone for cozy, nubbly vests and sweaters, or create your own version of Cat Bordhi’s Island Embrace Blankets*, we know you’ll love it as much as we do — this is still one of the most-petted yarns in our shop.  See them all here.

As many of you know, we have fallen more than a little behind in being able to post new yarns and let you know they are here.  At last, we are beginning to make our way through the cushy, sensuous backlog of unsung new arrivals.  What fun! And, what better place to start than with Big Blue, Fleece Artist’s Bulky weight Blue Face Leicester wool.  As the cold of winter deepens in the Northern Hemisphere, Big Blue answers with warming softness.  Blankets, sweaters, hats, scarves and more spring quickly from your needles to enfold whoever is lucky enough to wear them.  Mmmm.  See the new arrivals and old, here.

Slubby Blue is not only radiantly beautiful all by itself as bulky sweaters, jackets, coats and more, it pairs up with other yarns in ways that simply dazzle. Notice that the natural crimp of Blue Face Leicester fleece has been retained in the spinning of this sumptuous yarn.  Consider creating your own Cat Bordhi Island Embrace Blanket by addiing mix and match colorways of Curly Locks and Baby Alpaca. Or strand some Mo along with it and make a throw that will lead you into happy naps year after year. The creative possibilities are endless, the knitting breezy and delicious. Then comes wearing or using what you’ve made: that’s where you, too, will say “Ahhhhh!”. Enjoy it here.

Kathryn Thomas of Fleece Artist/Hand Maiden called a while back to tell us that she had a small lot of 5-ply Casbah that she was wanting to test market. Needless to say, we jumped at the chance to share it with you! Casbah as a DK weight was almost too good to be true, but there it was. At present, what you see is all there is, but we’re hoping that your response will change all that and make Casbah 5 a staple of Hand Maiden’s collection.

Here is the perfect yarn for all those baby blankets and children’s sweaters and more – the very items we want to be soft and natural, but also easy to clean. Here are some suggestions: if any of you want to add one of these patterns to your Casbah 5, just let us know.

Cat Bordhi's Island Embrace Blanket Kit by Fleece Artist

Cat Bordhi's Island Embrace Blanket Kit by Fleece Artist

Cat’s beautiful blanket, designed to comfort a member of her island’s knitting community, was originally made with Fleece Artist’s Splendid Sofa kit. When that kit had to be discontinued due to the inavailability of one of its yarns, the Island Embrace tradition continued, but without that “perfect kit.” Kathryn Thomas of Fleece Artist spotted the perfect substitute for the original Slubby – this time in a lustrous Blue Face Leicester wool that just begs to be carressed: enter Slubby Blue and the return of the Island Embrace Blanket! Whether you enfold a friend or yourself, this blanket is packed with all the goodness that Cat’s design and Fleece Artist’s color and fibers can bring. Just add your own love and knitting. Find your Island Embrace here.
