“Hey baby, it’s cold outside.” But not inside Fleece Artist’s Thrum Mittens! Make your fingers a warm little nest with Fleece Artist’s Thrum Mittens – now with many, many more kits to choose from, here.
If I were forced to choose a single yarn to take to that fabled desert island where it would be all I could knit for the rest of my days (under the single palm tree that is always on such islands), it would be BFL Aran (my desert isle has a temperate climate). This is one of those yarns that I would frankly like to have a room full of, so that I could open the door and jump into it like I used to do with raked leaves as a child. It is soft, strong, wonderful to have running through your fingers, even better to wear out into the cold that it will keep at arms length from you, because it is also very, very warm. Just in time for knitting happily by the fire. See the new arrivals and their friends here.
If you’ve never had the pleasure of its company before, here are some single skein kits to introduce you to the magic of BFL:
This is a very limited edition kit – we have 40 of them, available at a heartwarmingly low price ($34.95) through the yarn-finding genius of Kathryn Thomas. When they are gone, they are gone. Enjoy them while they last!
We thought about calling this latest yarn find by Kathryn Thomas the “Just about Anything You Want to Make Kit,” but decided that was a little too complicated, even for us. When we realized that it was perfect for creating unique pairs of Soft Socks or Mittens, we decided to put our focus there.
There really is enough yarn for 5, possibly 6 pairs of Soft Socks or Mittens. (Or, for a unique Garter Stitch Jacket) (Or, a Lady of the Lake Jacket) (Or a frothy, warm wrap) (or . . . but there we are again, back to complexity . . .) And, for those of you who’ve never met either of these yarns, Tara is like Hand Maiden’s Angel Hair, but with about 1/2 the volume, so you use it double-stranded. Boksburg, on the other hand, is a heart-stopping single ply sports weight yarn, practically glowing with color. When you put 2 strands of Tara with 1 strand of Boksburg and knit, beautiful things happen. Beautiful things that you can wear and love, here.
We know. The Thrum Mitten page has been bereft of all kits for over a month. Sad times, indeed. Well, all that is over now – we have just posted a large basketful of beautiful new Thrum Mitten kits. Keep your fingers toasty warm, here.
A glorious bounty of these quick-knitting, cozy-wearing socks/mittens kits are here. Fabulous colors and lots of them, too.
We’re excited to be able to say that enough Thrum Mittens Kits to fill 3 large baskets to overflowing has arrived! And are they gorgeous! Not to mention that the Fleece Artist has chosen to create these kits with River, just to add spice to the delights of thrumming. Cozy warm fingers resting in clouds of soft roving and surrounded by River (Alpaca, Silk, Merino). Almost makes you wish the first cold blast of Arctic wind would hurry up and get here, doesn’t it? See the new kits here.
